No purchase necessary. Entrants must submit a photo of the completed burger, as well as a complete list of ingredients and cooking instructions to be eligible. Recipe must be designed so that all ingredients are ON the burger, not on the side. Entrants must submit their creation as a "beef" or
"alternative". The ALTERNATIVE burger category is open to any other kind of meat or non-meat burger.
Original recipes only - all others will be disqualified. No professional chefs, please.
Voting is open from Thursday, November 8 at 12:01a.m. through Wednesday,
November 14 at 11:59 p.m. Each user is allowed up to one vote per day
during this period.
Winners will be notified by email. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If Rhode Island Monthly cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.
There will be six finalists chosen, and four final winners. The four
winning recipes along with chefs' names and home towns will be printed in the January
2013 issue of Rhode Island Monthly.
Prizes:
People's Choice: (2) grand prize winners (one beef and one alternative) will be chosen based on the highest number of votes in the Burger Gallery. Winners will each receive a $250 gift certificate to Garden City Center, and a gift certificate for culinary classes at Johnson & Wales University.
Chef's Choice: The six burgers with the highest number of votes (3 beef, 3 alternative) will be recreated by culinary students in Johnson & Wales University's City Burger kitchen. A panel of three judges will determine the top choice in each category based on taste and originality. (2) winners will each receive an $100 gift certificate to Garden City Center, private lunch with Chef Ken Watt of Johnson & Wales University, and a gift certificate for culinary classes at Johnson & Wales University.
(2) $50 gift certificates to Garden City Center will be awarded to the runners up.
You must be 18 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for
this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of said automated voting will lead to votes being voided.
Only one registered account per voter. If multiple accounts are detected for a single voter, they will be disabled and votes disqualified.
Rhode Island Monthly reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
Rhode Island Monthly reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.
Employees of Rhode Island Monthly, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
Entrants further grant to Rhode Island Monthly the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
Rhode Island Monthly reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.

All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail notification.
Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and will be required to complete an IRS form W-9. Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.
This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
